“There has never been a sadness that can’t be cured by breakfast food.” — Ron Swanson of ‘Parks and Recreation’
The décor, like the restaurant name, hearkens back to the 60s, with posters and other reminders of that era, several featuring Marilyn Monroe or James Dean.
I had the Betty White Benny, recommended by our server as one of the favourite meals. She says all the Bennies are really popular.
It was SO yummy! I love the carmelized onions with the garlic under the eggs, which were done to my specified “just off runny”.
The Benny was served with housemade hash browns that were spicy enough but didn’t compete with the flavor of the Benny. The bacon was plentiful and perfectly done – almost no fat, not chewy and not charred. This kind of bacon could make me a believer in that fad!
For sure, I’ll take company to the Five & Dime Diner for breakfast or lunch. And I’ll be going back for myself!
